Marble is among the most elegant and luxurious of stones, and is versatile enough for use throughout the home as it can be applied on almost every surface. It is a popular choice among many for its wide variety of colours and resistance to weather and is especially suitable for wet areas because it is easy to maintain and an extremely hygienic surface. This stone can add prestige to a space and has long been highly valued for its beauty and strength.
Marble is essentially limestone that has undergone metamorphism amid the heat and pressure of the earth’s crust and it is made mainly of calcite. Having similar characteristics to limestones, marbles are porous and not very abrasion resistant and susceptible to acids. Thus, it is not advisable to use marbles in high-traffic areas or to use them as kitchen countertops.
